Dear Woodland Owner:
We invite you to a series of educational classes
designed to help you better understand and manage
your woodlands. The classes will focus on:
• Identifying the trees on your land
• Managing your woods for game and other wildlife
• Finding technical and financial assistance
• The steps to a successful timber harvest
Whether you are a long-time woodland owner or
someone completely new to the experience, the
classes will have much to offer. Please take a moment
to look through this brochure for the “how, when,
and why” of the Learn about your Land
woodland classes.
LOCATIONS:
Eagle River: Lincoln Town Hall
1205 Sundstein Road Turn south at the intersections of Highways
17/70 and Sundstein Road and travel two
blocks to find the town hall on your right.
Rhinelander: Oneida County UW-Extension
3375 Airport Road
The Oneida County UW-Extension office is located
in the lower level of the Rhinelander/Oneida
County Airport Terminal on Airport Road. Airport
Road is located 2 miles West of Rhinelander on
Hwy 8.
Park Falls: Park Falls Public Library
410 Division Street
The Park Falls Library is located at the
intersection of Highway 13 and Division
Street in Park Falls.
Mercer: Mercer Community Center
2648 W. Margaret Street
From the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway
J in Mercer, head northeast on Highway J to
Lakeshore Drive. Take a right onto Lakeshore
Drive and the Community Center will be on your
left when you intersect with Margaret.
Registration information
Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required.
Receive a tree ID book if you pre-register for the entire series!
Registration is $20 for the entire series or $10 per session.

CLASSES
"Getting to Know Your Local Trees"
Join fellow
woodland owners as you learn to distinguish between the
different trees on your property. We will review the major trees
and invasives you will likely find on your property, and teach
you how to identify others when you return to your property.

"Introduction to Timber Harvesting & Sales"
Learn the steps and timeline involved in conducting a successful timber sale from establishment to selling to harvest. This workshop will introduce you to how to select a logger, why a timber sale contract is important, and steps involved in conducting a harvest.

"Wildlife Extravaganza: Managing Your Woodlands for Wildlife"
Learn about a broad array of woodland wildlife and how you can
enhance habitat, food and shelter values of your woodland. We will
also discuss food plots and the damage deer can do to the forest
regeneration.

A healthy, productive woodland requires investment of time and money, and knowledge of specific techniques. This session will introduce you to the people, programs and organizations that offer technical and financial assistance in all aspects of your woodland.
