needlesLearn About Your Land Internet Series:
Classes for Woodland Owners That Can Be attended From Your Home

January through February 2009

Dear Woodland Owner:

We invite you to a series of educational classes designed to help you better understand and manage your woodlands. The classes are sponsored by University of Wisconsin– Extension and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), and taught by experts in woodland ecology, forest health and management, timber harvesting, and related topics. Whether you are a long-time woodland landowner or someone completely new to the experience, the classes will have much to offer. These classes are offered via the internet with live presentations and interaction with a forester.  Please take a moment to look through this brochure for the “how, when, and why” of the Learn about your Land Internet Series for woodland owners.

Connection and Registration information

This is a “webcast” series meaning that the presentations will be live on the internet with a resource professional as a presenter.  To take part in this webcast, you simply visit a specific web page that allows you to view, listen to, and interact with a live speaker.  At this on-line meeting area you and other participants can view and hear the presentation and pose questions to the presenter by typing them into the “chat” feature.  To take part in these classes, you will need a high speed internet connection (DSL/Cable recommended), an internet browser, and the ability to hear sound through computer speakers or headset.  If you would like to participate in this event but don’t have the necessary equipment, you can most likely utilize the computers at your local library.  Sessions will also be recorded and placed onto this website (woodlandinfo.org) for those who would like to view them after the live session is over.

  • This class is free, but registration is required to receive the connection information.

  • To register, e-mail Kris Tiles, Central Wisconsin Basin Educator with UW-Extension
                Kris.tiles@ces.uwex.edu (Subject line: Webcasts)

Some of the funding for this program came from a grant from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board
