Shoreland Restoration

Shoreline Restoration Demonstration Sites

The Lake Noquebay Shoreline Restoration Demonstration Site is currently the only demonstration site in the Upper Green Bay Basin.  As you can see below, this was a very successful restoration site that not only allows you to learn about different plant species and restoration options, but also highlights the fact that restoring a shoreline buffer doesn't compromise lake access or views.

The site is located at Lake Noquebay County Park (Marinette County) and is open to the public (park entrance fee = $2).  Coming north on Highway 141 from Green Bay, turn east onto County Road W.; continue east to County Road GG; Turn left onto GG and follow road past Birchwood Rd. and Pioneer Rd. to the park (see map at bottom of page).

The UW-Extension Basin Educator for the Upper Green Bay Basin and the County Conservationist for Marinette County recently submitted an EPA Environmental Education Grant, requesting more funds for additional demonstration sites within the basin.
