The Upper Green Bay Basin proper includes most or all of Forest, Florence, Marinette, and Oconto Counties, and small portions of Langlade, Menominee, Shawano, Outagamie, and Brown Counties for a total of 4,063 square miles. However, due to a decision by the DNR, Forest and Florence Counties are no longer a part of the Upper Green Bay Basin from a staffing and work planning perspective. This reduced area (2,753 square miles) is comprised of all or part of 16 subwatersheds. Major river systems drain to Green Bay and include the Menominee, Oconto, Peshtigo, Suamico, and Little Suamico rivers.
