Threats to Green Bay's Ecosystem

Historically, end-of-pipe discharges from point sources like paper companies posed a significant threat to the Fox River and Green Bay. However, as a result of the Clean Water Act of 1972, these point source threats have been greatly reduced. Today, the bay's ecosystem is threatened primarily by runoff pollution, invasive species, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and coastal development.
