Lakes, Streams & Rivers

<Back to Waterways

Lakes and Open WaterThe map to the left shows the lakes and open water of northern Wisconsin.  You can see from the image that we live in a water rich area.  There are over 765 lakes (only counting those greater than 10 acres) within the Upper Chippewa Basin.  These lakes serve as valuable fish and waterfowl habitat as well as excellent fishing spots and home sites.

Rivers, Streams and CanalsThe map above right shows the Rivers, Streams, and Canals of northern Wisconsin.  Again, you can see from the image that we live in a water rich area.  There are over 4,000 miles of streams and rivers within the Upper Chippewa Basin.  These streams and rivers serve as valuable habitat corridors for wildlife and excellent fishing spots.
