When looking at this map of Wisconsin Land Ownership you'll notice that there is a lot of publicly owned land within the Upper Chippewa River Basin. We have several county forests, portions of the Chequamegon National Forest, two State Forests, as well as numerous state wildlife areas. In general, these public lands do not contain agricultural or residential development and are managed to protect watershed values. This results in little negative impacts to the water quality in our watershed.
