2000 - A coconut coir biolog was added near the boat landing as an example of "soft" erosion control. 2000 - Wildlife habitat including brush piles, rocks, and houses were added. 2000 - The first summer after planting already showed great results. Swamp milkweed are in the foreground.
Black-eyed Susan Fall The path
2000 - Black-eyed susans are a good choice for native plantings. 2000 - A fall shot of the restoration and hatchery ponds. 2001 - From a barren lawn to a habitat.
Stepping stone path The restoration plan
2001 - Area fourth graders made stepping stones that were incorporated into a pathway on the site. To show landowners different choices the plan incorporated many types of turf removal and mulches. Some succeeded and some failed. Bark mulch was the most successful we used.
