Storm Water Issue Team
Starting in 2008, cities, towns, and organizations from around the region came together to create a united plan to address stormwater issues in the Rock River basin. After a year of planning, the Rock River Stormwater Group (RRSG) is proud to launch its stormwater education and outreach campaign: Clean Water. Bright Future. Based on the fact that healthy waters create healthy communities, this campaign will promote the many actions homeowners, businesses, towns, and industries can take to prevent dirty water from reaching the waterways that connect our region. The RRSG is a vibrant coalition of 17 members including municipalities and organizations. The group welcomes permitted communities, non-permitted communities and other groups to join them in educating citizens, businesses, staff, elected officials and others about their contributions to the stormwater issues facing the Rock River Basin. This team is focused on the technical and regulatory aspects of storm water. They have hosted a number of workshops including DNR Environmental Grant, Practical Approaches to Storm Water Control and Conservation Subdivision Design. Members of the committee were part of the Dane County effort to develop a storm water information and education plan.

Currently this team is exploring ways to assist communities needing storm water permits, especially in educating elected officials and developers on the new requirements.
