- Groundwater Issue Team
- Who they are
- Goals
- What they have been working on; resource catalog
The Groundwater Issue Team was formed in 1998 as a result The Power of Partnership Forum by the Rock River Coalition, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and UW-Extension (UWEX). As a self-directed committee, the Groundwater Issue Team has been working for three years on their initial goals to identify and rank contaminants found in the Rock River Basin, promote proper well abandonment, and to promote and provide groundwater education.
- What is the Resource Catalog?
- Compilation of groundwater studies/research in the Rock River Basin
- List agencies that hold the reports: DATCP, DNR, USGS, Dane/Rock/Dodge LCDs, UW-Point and Madison, UWEX, Rock Co. Health Dept., WI GNHS, etc.
As part of the education program, the goal to identify and rank contaminants, the Groundwater Issue Team has been compiling a Groundwater Resource Catalog in an effort to determine what work has already been done and where research is needed. The Groundwater Resource Catalog is a listing of the groundwater studies, research and testing done in the Rock River Basin and in some cases, statewide. The Resource Catalog has a listing of these resources and details concerning each study. Many of the studies in the Resource Catalog are from local, state, and federal government agencies. They cover different areas of the Basin and testing.
- Purpose of Resource Catalog
- Resource availability for concerned citizens and public officials
- Help track inter-agency research
The purpose of the Groundwater Resource Catalog is to provide a comprehensive list of these studies for concerned citizens and public officials of the Rock River Basin. It will also help track inter-agency research.
- What will this accomplish?
- Increase awareness/education
- Better planning and partnering for public and officials
The Groundwater Issue Team hopes that this Resource Catalog will increase public awareness about the state of the Rock River Basin’s water resources and provide a valuable tool for the citizens of the Rock River Basin.
- Future Plans (?)
- Comments from public
The Ground Water Issue Team would appreciate comments regarding the Groundwater Resource Catalog and invite interested persons to get involved with the Team to help promote groundwater concerns in the Basin.
