SESSION 1 Friday, August 13 5:30 p.m. Arrival and Grill out at Potters Farm 6:30 Orientation activities 7:30 Presentation: A Sense of Place by Jeff Rennicke In search of stories writer Jeff Rennicke has crawled into bear dens, kayaked down rivers, skied across glaciers, climbed volcanoes, and howled with wolves. His work, which has appeared in nine books and over 200 magazine articles, has taken him to some of the wildest, most beautiful landscapes on five continents including expeditions in China , Russia , Antarctica , Italy , the Amazon, Canada , Alaska , and all over the United States . His stories, which twice have been honored with Gold Medals for Excellence by the Society of American Travel Writers, appear regularly in such publications as Reader's Digest, National Geographic Adventure, Backpacker and many others. When not sea kayaking, hang gliding, mountain climbing or running from bears, he lives with his wife and family in Bayfield, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior. For more information visit www.jeffrennicke.com 8:30 p.m. Campfire with presentations and discussions on Ecological Footprinting by Jim Cantril, and Incorporating Natural Resource Values in Economic Development by Ted Koehler, NFWS Saturday, August 14 7:30 a.m. Breakfast 8:30 Personality surveys, Teambuilding, and Group Processing about Leadership at the Maxwell Property Field Station low ropes course 12 p.m. Lunch 1-4 Continue at ropes course 5 p.m. Fish Boil at Waverly Beach on the Bad River Indian Reservation 6:30 Presentation on Sustainability by Jane Silberstein and Talking Circle with tribal elder Joe Rose, reflection project, and campfire on beach 9 p.m. Return to Potters Farm Sunday, August 15 7:30 a.m. Breakfast 8:30-12 Join Lake Superior Basin Educator Mike Kroenke on a trip to the “Silver Creek Blowout” to see first hand some of the effects of Habitat Change and Impairments 12 p.m. Lunch! 12:30 Depart for a boat trip into the Kakogan Slough and the Sand Cut behind Oak Point to learn about invasive species, toxins, and habitat change and impairments. We’ll eat lunch in the field. 4:30 p.m. Return to Potters Farm for wrap-up and send off. SESSION 2 Friday, September 17 5:30 p.m. Dinner/ Welcome Back/ Entertainment at Potters Farm 6:30 Campfire and Reflections on Session 1 Saturday, September 18 7:30 a.m. Breakfast 8:30 Group Discussion on How to Move Issues forward and Take Action, with examples 12 p.m. Lunch 12:30 Depart to Northland College for Commitment to Change Activity on Climbing Wall 4:30 Return to Potters Farm for Evaluations, Awards Dinner and Conclusions!
