Forestry and the Farm Bill: Where Are We Heading?

This presentation will include an overall summary of the forestry title of the 2008 farm bill, a discussion of forestry provisions that are part of the conservation and energy titles of the bill, general discussion of the role federal policy plays in forestry and audience opportunity to suggest what direction that policy should take.
John Moreland began working for Senator Tom Harkin in April of1994. He has played an active role in the office on agricultural, environmental and economic development issues. John grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa. He graduated from the Ottumwa Heights College and attended the University of Iowa. He is married with two children. His wife, Kathy Schneider, is senior epidemiologist at the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care. Their children attend the Cowles Montessori School in the Des Moines public school system. The Morelands live in Des Moines and enjoy spending time outdoors.
