Paul Deizman is a Certified Professional Forester in his first year at the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Environmental Programs, where he is the new Pest Detection and Quarantine Program Manager (a.k.a EAB Program Manager). For the 3 years previous to his new job, Paul directed the Forest Management Unit for the Tennessee Division of Forestry and managed the TN Forest Legacy Program. Prior to his TN post, he was a District Forester for 14 years with the IL DNR. He began his forestry work in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia as a private forestry consultant, then in southeast Iowa as a RC&D forester prior to his District Post with the IDNR. Paul has a Tree Farm with a 30 acre Forest Stewardship Plan including successful reforestation and wildlife projects. He remains a SAF "certified forester", is getting involved with the Illinois Forestry Association and plans to do more professional consulting forestry work as time, projects, and Agriculture Department responsibilities allow.
