Rodney Rovang

Rodney Rovang grew up on a farm, which he now manages, near Decorah , Iowa and went to Kodiak , Alaska to work as a hunting guide after high-school. He then served in the Army as a military policeman in Germany for two years, after which he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. During college he studied in Germany and Poland and graduated with majors in Biology and Wildlife Biology and minors in Environmental Law Enforcement and Natural Resource Management. Rodney started work at Effigy Mounds National Monument as a seasonal employee in 1980 and became the Resource Manager in 1985. As a Resource Manager, he is involved with restoring the landscape to conditions similar to that of the mound building era. In doing so, he conducts prairie restoration, savanna restoration, and prescribed burns, and controls exotic plant species.
