Frank Heisner

Frank Heisner is the Project Leader soil scientist with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Rock Falls , IL . He is currently part of an update process for soil survey in northwestern Illinois , where his directing duties include soil mapping, sampling, working in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and soil data management. Frank worked for the USDA Forest Service for ten years in Colorado , the Dakotas, Montana , and Wyoming as a Resource Soil Scientist and as part of an ecological inventory team. He has a B.S. in Forestry from Iowa State University and an M.S. in Soil Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia . Frank grew up in rural southeast Iowa , and was active in the outdoors, pursuing hunting, fishing, and trapping. His current interests include gardening, furniture refinishing, and American history.
