Direct Seeding: A "Nutty" Alternative in Restoration

Jay Hayek
Jay is an Extension Forester in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois , Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the University of Illinois , Jay worked as a District Forester for the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources and as a Forest Products Marketing Representative with Caterpillar, Inc. Jay has a M.S. degree in Forest Resources with emphasis in Silviculture from the University of Idaho , and a B.S. degree in Forest Science from the University of Illinois . He is currently enrolled in the US Forest Service's Program of Advanced Studies in Silviculture (PASS) where he is seeking official recognition as a Certified Silviculturist. Jay is also a certified Tree Farm inspector, coordinator of the Illinois Big Tree program, and past chair of the Illinois chapter of the Society of American Foresters.
