North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition
Who we are and what we do...

Marathon County; the Cities of Marshfield, Merrill, Mosinee, Schofield, Stevens Point, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids; the Villages of Kronenwetter, Rothschild and Weston; and the Town of Rib Mountain have formed the North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition. The Coalition is working to address stormwater issues in North Central Wisconsin. Stormwater is water that accumulates on land as a result of storms and can include runoff from urban areas such as roads and roofs.

North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition vision
How we do it...
The North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition is devoted to sustaining water quality in the basin by focusing on public education and coordination of local groups.

North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition is a proud sponsor of the

FOCUS FEATURE FOR SPRING
Yard Care

Spring Clean-up Tips

Rake It...
Rake leaves and grass, but don't put them in the street. Consider composting the leaves instead. To learn more about composting, check out these resources:

Rain as a Resource...
April showers are a great time to collect rain for your spring plantings. Consider installing a rain barrel to collect the rain from your roof. Want to build a rain barrel, check out these instructions.

Rain gardens...
Another option is to capture the rain running off your roof, sidewalk and driveway through a rain garden. Download our "How To Manual"

FOCUS FEATURE FOR SPRING
Car Care

Time to get outside and clean the car for a fresh spring...

Washing the car...
All the soap, scum, and oily grit runs along the curb. Then into the storm drain and directly into our lakes andstreams. And that causes pollution, which is unhealthy for fish.
• Take your car to the carwash where the dirty water is treated before it gets to our water.
• Wash your car on your lawn or direct the dirty water towards the lawn and away from the storm drain.

Changing the oil...
Did you know . . . 4 quarts of oil can form an 8 acre oil slick if dumped or spilled down a storm drain? Recycle used fluids and never dump them down the storm drain.
