The Basin _________________________________

The Black Buffalo Trempealeau River Basin covers approximately 3852 square miles of land in West Central Wisconsin. The Basin includes parts of Buffalo, Clark, La Crosse, Jackson, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Taylor Counties.

In 1998 a unique partnering opportunity referred to as the "Wisconsin Basin Initiative" was begun by the Department of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin-Extension, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to promote citizen-based watershed programs.

Learn more about the basin by reading the Black-Buffalo-Trempealeau State of the Basin Report, compiled by the DNR.
