Randy Mell Prior to joining UW-Extension as the Basin Educator for the Black-Buffalo-Trempealeau & La Crosse-Bad Axe Basins, Randy was a field forester for Minnesota DNR-Forestry for thirty-three years. He managed 14,000 acres of state forest land within the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest in south eastern Minnesota. His responsibilities included forest management planning, timber harvest, tree planting, timber stand improvement, land acquisition, fire management, forest recreation, seed orchard cultivation, private forest management, and budgeting. He holds national credentials for emergency management under the incident command system (ICS), and was a team member in one of Minnesota’s three MNICS Incident Command teams for five years. Randy holds a Bachelors Degree in Forestry from the University of Minnesota, and has been a private forestry consultant in Wisconsin and Iowa since 1982. |
