Bill Klase
Headwaters Basin

Bill has been the Headwaters Basin Educator since April of 2000. Given the abundance of lakes, rivers, and forest resources in the Headwaters, Bill has devoted a great deal of his time educating folks about protecting our water resources and making informed decisions regarding our public and private forests. His projects include shoreland restoration workshops,
invasive species educational initiatives, forest stewardship training for beginners and advanced woodland owners, stormwater management programs, and educational materials and displays development. Prior to working as a Basin Educator, Bill was with UW-Extension as an Associate Outreach Specialist in the Department of Forest Ecology at UW-Madison. He has also worked in the DNR Bureau of Forestry with the Wisconsin Forest Inventory and as a tree improvement specialist. He served as a community forestry volunteer with the Peace Corps in Nepal and as an infantryman with the US Army. Bill holds a BS in Forest Science and a Master's in Forestry from UW-Madison.
